Many of our customers find it convenient to budget their monthly energy costs through participation in Pepco's Average Payment Plan. This plan allows you to make a fixed payment each month, therefore avoiding the fluctuation in monthly bills, which may arise as a result of heating and/or air conditioning use.

How Does The Plan Work?
By reviewing your historical usage data (or that of the former occupant if you are a new customer), Pepco estimates your annual usage and divides those costs into twelve equal monthly installments. At the end of your plan year, your account is reviewed to determine any difference between your payments to date and your actual charges. If the actual charges have exceeded your monthly payments, this difference is simply carried over to the next plan year and taken into consideration when calculating your new monthly payment amount. If your payments to date have exceeded your actual charges, the resulting credit balance will also be carried over to the next plan year unless it exceeds $100.00, in which case it will be promptly refunded.

During the course of your plan year, your account is periodically reviewed and your monthly average payment amount changed if there are substantial differences between your estimated and actual usage. Aletter advising you of the change becomes effective.

Are There Any Specific Joining Requirements?
The only requirement for joining the plan is that your account currently be paid in full and that there are no past due amounts. You may also join the plan in any month.

How Do I Join?
To join the plan, you may complete and submit the attached form, call our main customer service number, (202) 833-7500, or simply visit one of our Customer Service Centers. Once we have received your application, we will initiate your Average Payment Plan and confirm your participation by mail. This confirmation will also include the amount of the monthly payment, which will appear on your next bill. If after reviewing the confirmation you should decide not to participate, just contact us to cancel your application.
